Christmas 2009

A very special Christmas of 2009 in California.

Christmas Eve - lunch with my parents in Garden Grove for some good Korean Food. My parents are so much fun and as they are getting older, I am understanding what "true love" really really means. It is hard to explain but it is so visible when I watch my mom and dad.

Emily makes a gingerbread house in the afternoon to decorate the breakfast table!
We decided to go to Disneyland to see the Fantasy Parade and go on couple of rides. And see the pretty lights there. We even saw "Disney snow" while we were there! And it was pretty cool! It was so crowded. Couldn't go to Small World. We'll do that another time. Didn't want to wait 2 hours in the line. And it was very cold - 50 degrees!!!

Christmas Eve Dinner @ Baltimore parent's house. Then to their Bethel Church's special Christmas program.

Here is a funny picture! Emily is growing up so fast. Her feet are almost the same size as my mom's feet (size 5 1/2)!!! Emily's sox is white; my mom's is black!!! HAHAHA

Super silly Emily as she is getting so excited for the very next day! CHRISTMAS! She is waiting for everyone to finish dinner at Baltimore Parent's house!

Before Emily goes to bed, she leaves cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeers! (Miss Tickle is the name of her Elf from "Elf on the Shelf")

And Emily is allowed to open up 1 gift before she goes to bed on Christmas Eve. And here she is very excited to receive a plus Calico Critters!

The next morning @ 6am (or I should say at 1am, 2am, 5am ---- she would not sleep), we heard Emily go downstairs and peek inside her giant stocking!

Christmas Breakfast @ our house:

Christmas gifts that Emily received! Emily has been a great kid all year long.  Seriously, she is just a really good girl everywhere. We just had so much fun seeing her reaction on Christmas morning!
And now NEXT FRIDAY, on JANUARY 1st is her 8th BIRTHDAY!!!! What more can this little girl get???

Of course David, Emily, and I also wanted to get something for our moms and dads too!!!

I think my dad really got a kick out of Emily's Frosty the Snowman Build a Bear!!!

*This Christmas now that Emily is old enough we decided to introduce a new family tradition. Because we hear from her friends about family traditions that is done annually, we started one for Thanksgiving (back when David and I just got married in 1996 - decorate, buy a Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving). And Christmas we started one - Elf on the Shelf.  Emily named her elf "MISS TICKLE". And every night from Thanksgiving through Christmas, MISS TICKLE sits somewhere in the house. And MISS TICKLE is supposed to watch how Emily is throughout the day and night. It's been a fun scavenger hunt game for her. She also gets to see what's going on with the other elves on the website www.elfontheshelf.com and northpole.com.

Miss Tickle also reports back to Santa if Emily has been good or bad,  what she's been doing that day, etc...

It sounds silly, but it's been so much fun to watch her. You can see the innocence of Christmas spirit in a child. And reminds us that Christmas is a time to CELEBRATE...eliminate the sour face and put on a joyous face!

But now that Christmas is over, Emily has to say good-bye to Miss Tickle. And she is very sad...We gave her a private moment to say her good-bye.

We told Emily that Miss Tickle can stay until her birthday = New Years Day! Now she is dressed in the poncho made by grandma, hello kitty scarf, and American Girl hat to have dinner with my aunt/uncle, susan/caleb, helen/mike...We have the movie, "Elf" in the car and off we go!!!

We know the true meaning of Christmas and it's fun to make Christmas such a fun time for us! Last night at my aunt/uncle's house we really celebrated in every word what Christmas with laughter, good food, present explosions, going to see a cool lightshow! And to hear Emily say, "now that's CHRISTMAS" brought a smile to my face! Christmas should be time of explosions of laughter, noise, and just fun!

OUR CHRISTMAS TRADITION:
We got the Elf on the Shelf tradition started.
We also got the Christmas breakfast at our home started.
There can be NO SOUR FACE; only JOYOUS HEART and ATTITUDE!!!

I think our Christmas 2009 has been a great one filled with so much great memories!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2009!
WHAT'S NEXT
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EMILY and HAPPY NEW YEARS DAY and
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
TO SUSAN AND CALEB!!!
