It's Jog-A-Thon 2011 at Emily's school Canyon View. Each class runs 20 minutes. Emily's goal was not to fall down and to run as many laps as possible. And this year she did 6 1/2 laps. We are so proud of her!!! Here are some pictures from this morning's Jog A Thon.
Who would have guessed that about 5 years ago Emily would not have been able to walk/run without constantly falling down. And now look at her go! She didn't fall at once this year! Big deal, you say. Well it is a big deal for Emily because it is showing us that Emily's legs, her trunk muscles are all getting stronger and stronger. To us, this is a huge milestone for Emily and in our eyes she got a blue ribbon! OH I know she would LOVE to run FAST like her peers. But I have told her that running faster can be your personal goal but you never need to compare yourself and feel bad. You did a great job and never gave up!!!
GOD has given Emily many gifts and talents that other kids have to work at. And likewise, Emily has to work on the physical educational stuff. And we are constantly reminding her and encouraging her to keep that "can-do attitude" and "show your awesomeness"! She may never get a blue ribbon in track or cross country but she can get a blue ribbon in school work, arts, and music! And as long as she has that positive attitude and be surrounded by positive and encouraging friends, I know she'll be alright...
Thank you, Lord, for cheering Emily on today! We know you were there and you were so proud of her.
Here are some pictures from the Jog-A-Thon too!
