What an exciting transition for Emily. We were always concerned about the huge class size at Irvine Public School. And though Emily liked Canyon View she has voiced her desire to go to a private school with smaller number of classmates. So we started the research.
And God has led us to a wonderful school called Calvary Christian School. Everything happened so fast. The principal even had Emily not take the entrance exam because her grades and STAR test results were excellent. The principal said that he spoke with the 4th grade teachers and said starting after Thanksgiving is great because they will be doing new chapters; so it will be fine for Emily.
I even researched and found 2 moms who have kids at Calvary. And luckily they both had daughters in 4th grade. I met and had coffee with the 2 moms on Monday. And they pretty much confirmed that we were making the right choice. They also knew about the other schools we looked at and confirmed those were not the school for us.
The moms were so wonderful and even gave Emily all of these uniforms so that I did not have to order it. That probably saved about $500.00! I sent an email to Emily's teacher who was so wonderful. She even prepared a basket with all the materials that the class have been covering in case Emily wants to go over it before November 28th.
Emily's excitement to go to a private school puzzles and makes David and myself laugh. Emily is such a routine loving type of a girl. But her excitement about starting a brand new school? Well I do believe GOD has a reason and a purpose for sending Emily there. There are things she has been praying about all summer long. Maybe God will answer some of her prayers at Calvary.
So no more walking to school at 7:50am. It will be in the car by 7:30am and driving to be at school by 8AM - 3:05PM. No more minimum days. But there are fun field trips - Sacramento, California Adventure on last day of school, etc... And finally Emily said to me today, "I'm so thankful to daddy for letting me go to a private school. Can we still go out to eat like Chipotle, Native Foods, In and Out, and Asian restaurants even though he is spending a lot of money on my tuition?"

Modeling a 6x skirt. |

Emily loves this jumper. She says she is wearing this on Nov 28th. |
 |
These are all letters that her future classmates wrote to Emily welcoming her. Made me smile. |
 |
A welcome letter from Emily's teacher-to-be Mrs. Dedmon. What a nice nice lady. |
 |
Mrs. Dedmon had sticky notes in all subjects so Emily can look through it and be prepared for new school. |

The shirt is too small. It's an X-SMALL. But skirt is 6x and fits cute! |
